ILLNESS TO WELLNESS Webinar on Omicron: A New Challenge in India

  • 23 Dec, 2021
  • 3.00 PM - 4.00 PM

The new hyper-mutated Omicron variant of Covid–19 was first originated in South Africa in November and since then spreading very rapidly across the globe.

In India also, omicron statistics are steadily rising with fresh cases found in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and in Delhi as well. It is generally expected that new variant to be milder in people with a history of previous infection or vaccination. However, people with no form of protective immunity may experience similar patterns of disease severity as has been seen with earlier variants.

In our country, people have developed antibodies and more importantly the immunity over the time. However, people shouldn’t be "complacent” rather "need to be more alert and cautioned”.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), "preliminary data doesn't indicate that Omicron is more severe than its predecessor Delta”.

Amidst the potent challenges of new variant, there are ample studies depicting divergent views regarding the transmissibility & severity of disease, effectiveness of vaccination, additional or booster doses, as compared to other variants, including Delta.

In view of above, with the objectives to cascade awareness and disseminate wisdom about the more clarity on the symptoms, transmission & severity of disease, effectiveness of vaccination and additional or booster doses to protect against this potent and critical danger of new variant to lead a healthy life, under Illness To Wellness campaign, ASSOCHAM is organizing a webinar onOMICRON: A New Challenge in India”scheduledon Thursday, 23rd December 2021 from 3.00 PM To 4.00 PM.

Keeping in mind the relevance of the topic, on behalf of ASSOCHAM, we are immensely pleased to cordially invite you to attend this highly significant and very timely webinar.
