Harnessing & Strengthening Value Chain of Millets inTamil Nadu

In the wake of the United Nations General Assembly declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries is hosting Millet Mahotsav across the country with the aim of creating awareness about the nutritional benefits, value addition, consumption, and export potential of Millets. Millets are considered traditional food for more than half a billion people across Asia and Africa. Millets are important by the virtue of their mammoth potential to generate livelihoods, increase farmers’ income and ensure food & nutritional security all over the world. India is one of the leading producers of millets in the world with an estimated share of around 41 percent in global production.

ASSOCHAM is contemplating a 2-day National Conference with EXPO, creating opportunities for meeting Buyer/Seller to support the vision of “Tamil Nadu Millet Mission 2023” and in the wake of additional districts (namely Namakkal, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode and Pudukottai) added to the two millet zones created by Tamil Nadu Government, to increase the production and consumption of millets, Finger Millet and Pearl Millet.

To bring the awareness and importance of Millet farming, ASSOCHAM in collaboration with Ministry of Food Processing Industry , Government of India (MOFPI) and supported by  IIMR , TNAU, CODISSIA, CFTRI, NIIST, NIFTEM and other R&D Institutions is organizing a two-day National Conference cum Exhibition with Food Demo and Buyer - Seller meetings on Harnessing & Strengthening Value Chain of Millets inTamil Nadu on 16^th & 17^th June 2023 at CODISSIA Trade Centre, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

 The objective of this event is to create awareness and promote production, processing, value addition, entrepreneurship, international outreach, and consumption of millets. The event will bring all the stakeholders of the food processing sector with a special focus on millets, on a common platform.
