Conference on Fuels of Future - Sustainable Fuels for Carbon Neutral Growth

Achieving energy security and transitioning to a thriving low-carbon economy is critical for a growing nation like India. The energy demand in our country is rising due to an expanding economy, growing population, increasing urbanization, evolving lifestyles, and rising spending. The Indian economy is expected to grow steadily despite temporary setbacks due to the COVID pandemic, which would further increase industrial bases and vehicular population with demand for their related fuels. But rising concerns over climate change and the rapid depletion of fossil fuels have prompted the search for alternative fuels having efficiencies like those found in the conventional fuels of today. 

The government of India\'s initiatives like the Ethanol Blended Petrol Programme, Green Hydrogen Policy, New Electric Vehicle Policy, Coal Gasification etc., will help strengthen energy security, reduce industrial & vehicular emissions, and position the country as a leading destination for future or clean fuels. However, the insufficient financial and operational stability of refineries, supply & demand variance, limited availability of feedstock, technology infusion, lack of skilled labour, and consumer awareness are some of the concerns faced by the industry for further advancement of these new-age fuels.
